Job Description SummaryThe Visitor Services Associate will serve visitors at the Wake Forest Historical Museum. As an ambassador of the Museum, they will represent the Museum professionally and assist museum staff with educational programs, exhibitions, and other projects as needed. The Visitor Services Associate is responsible for opening and closing the museum on weekends.
The Visitor Services Associate will be scheduled to work approximately 16 hours per week. This position will be required to cover a variety of shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays. The location of this position is at the Wake Forest Historical Museum at 414 North Main Street in downtown Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
Greets visitors and facilitates tours of the museum and Calvin Jones House.
Provides information and monitors the conduct of visitors and adherence to site rules.
Provide excellent customer service by answering visitor questions and responding to concerns and complaints.
Provides support during museum events.
Provides information to museum visitors or contacts in person, on the phone, and electronically.
Opens and securely closes the museum.
Answered inquiries regarding items in the museum's collection or on topics related to the history of Wake Forest.
Operates the gift shop using a point-of-sale system.
Other Functions:
Assist the museum staff with daily operations, educational programs, exhibit development, and collections management.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Demonstrated understanding of US history, public history, African American/Black studies, museum studies, historic preservation, cultural studies, anthropology, or archaeology.
Excellent customer service skills.
Confident public speaker able to work with groups of all ages and backgrounds.
Comfortable working individually and with a team.
Ability to enter data in computer databases and use standard computer programs such as the MS Office suite and Google Drive.
Bachelor's degree in US history, public history, African American history, Black Studies, historic preservation, or cultural studies.
1-2 years experience at a museum, historic site, or related educational institution.
