Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Associate's degree and one to two years' related experience required.
Certification by Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council within probationary period required.
Physical examination, written examination, psychological evaluation, and background investigation required pursuant to Rule 32 of Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council.
Valid driver's license or ability to obtain, and driver's check required.
Ability to communicate effectively with people; physically restrain a suspect; run up/down several flights of stairs and up to 100 yards; stand for long periods of time; walk for several hours while on patrol; drive emergency response vehicle.
Ability to hear radio and telephone communications at both high and low decibels.
Radio and telephone communications require clear diction without impediments. Good vision needed.
