This Insurance Investment Manager position is responsible for advising the Cat Insurance Investment Committee ("CIIC") on the financial aspects of the $2.5 billion investment portfolio in the Cat Insurance general account.
We are looking for a talented and motivated Insurance Investment Manager to join our team, with responsibility to oversee the management of the Caterpillar Insurance enterprise general account assets according to the investment policy established by the CIIC. The Insurance Investment Manager will deliver sustained process excellence through strong governance, documentation standards, thorough benchmarking, oversight of investment managers and service providers, and continuous adoption of best practice solutions.
What You Will Do:
Establishes investment objectives for each portfolio and the consolidated insurance enterprise. Recommends changes in asset allocation and identifies, evaluates and recommends new investment strategies, products and ideas.
Develops investment policies, asset allocation and investment guidelines for general account assets for Caterpillar Insurance Company Lt. (CICL), Caterpillar Insurance Company, (CIC), Caterpillar Life Insurance Company (CLIC), Caterpillar Products Service Corp. (CPSC) and other legal entities as needed. Secures ratification of investment policy from the CIIC.
Works closely with custodian, investment managers, and internal partners in Cat Insurance, Legal, and Accounting to ensure smooth plan administration and compliance.
Performs on-going due diligence reviews of investment manager performance and risk against policy objectives and benchmarks, compliance with investment guidelines, evaluation of fees and use of derivatives.
Stays informed of the regulatory environment, trends, and best practices in the captive insurance industry and provides insight and recommendations to the CIIC as needed.
Performs periodic asset class reviews with assistance of investment managers or external consultant and presents results to the CIIC.
Leads periodic Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for investment managers and external service providers as necessary, including the negotiation of investment management agreements, service provider contracts, and other documentation with the assistance of legal counsel.
Supports the development and ongoing production of investment reporting and dashboards
What You Have:
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with vendors and peers; ability to guide the workflow of outside service providers
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in a simple, clear language appropriate to the audience
Asset and Liability Management (ALM): Knowledge of asset and liability tools, techniques and business practices; ability to manage, measure, and monitor risks associated with assets and liabilities.
Investment Strategy: Knowledge of the principles and guidelines for designing an Investment Strategy; ability to design, implement and monitor the outcomes of an investment strategy adopted by the organization.
Investments: Knowledge of investments; ability to analyze and evaluate asset types, market and industry trends, major issues and regulatory considerations
Fund Performance Analysis: Knowledge of fund activity and performance analysis; ability to analyze fund performance and risk through reporting practices, processes and techniques
Regulatory Environment: Knowledge of regulatory environment and reporting requirements for insurance investment plans, including the potential impact to the investment portfolio and operations; ability to help an organization comply with regulations; develop and follow organization-specific policies and guidelines
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field and with strong academic credentials
Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial markets, investments, corporate finance, or risk management
Broad understanding of economics and financial markets
Advanced knowledge of public market asset classes, risks, investment strategies, and performance attribution
Knowledge of private market asset classes, risks, investment strategies, investment structures, and performance attribution
Experience conducting due diligence on institutional asset managers and investment strategies, selecting asset managers, establishing investment guidelines, and negotiating investment manager agreements
Strong operations governance with a focus on risk management, process excellence, and controls
Experience working with auditors and external services providers such as trustees/custodians, consultants, and investment managers
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft BI and advanced Excel
Working knowledge of Bloomberg and other data services or investment analytics systems
Strong project management skills and the ability to independently lead and execute multiple competing priorities to completion

Summary Pay Range: $142,080.00 - $213,000.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
