POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses in the Airline Quality Control and Airline Operations departments. May be responsible for creating graphics and charts to accompany manual content.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
• Issue and track all company-controlled manuals as assigned to personnel, aircraft, and stations.
• Maintain and update manuals status reports for Maintenance and Operations Department, and aircraft audit lists for crew use.
• Responsible for layout and editing of all company-controlled manuals, revisions and bulletins.
• Responsible for printing/binding of company-produced manuals (or arrangements for outsourcing of related tasks).
• Order and track all external company-controlled manuals.
• Organize and maintain company's library with all master manuals.
• Provide assistance to operations/maintenance personnel, flight crews, vendors and other employees to ensure they are able to access required company resources pertaining to manual distribution.
• Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus require fewer instructions.
• Organize and write supporting content for products.
• Standardize content across platforms and media.
• Revise content as new FAA regulations and issues arise.
• Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• No license requirements. Previous writing experience, particularly aviation writing or technical writing preferred. Previous technical aviation knowledge preferred.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, Journalism, or Communications is ideal.
• General knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, email and database software.
• Framemaker experience preferred.
• Firm comprehension of regulatory information sources.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in aviation publications or technical documentation are preferred.
• High comfort level with technology. Willingness to learn new skills and apply them is a must.

Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:
Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Exerts up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally for office supplies and equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; move about the facility. Some light physical effort required.
Must be able to work well under pressure.
