Our EDO (Engineering Design Organization) is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to take on the role of Mechanical Piping Designer for the MidCon Region based out of our Baton Rouge, Louisiana office.
Reporting to the Regional Mechanical Team Leader, the successful candidate will contribute to and be responsible for be responsible for developing detailed piping designs and layouts for oil and gas production, refining, and processing facilities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of piping designs, while ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work with some key responsibilities:
Fulfill the Piping Designer needs for a wide variety of industrial and municipal clients
Develop detailed piping designs and layouts for oil and gas production, refining, and processing facilities.
Create and update piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings, and 3D models.
Ensure all piping designs comply with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with process engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver optimal piping designs.
Conduct site visits and field surveys to gather data and verify existing conditions.
Perform clash detection and resolve design conflicts using current 3D modeling software.
Prepare material take-offs and bill of materials (BOM) for piping systems.
Participate in design reviews, providing technical input to optimize piping layouts.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for piping designs in accordance with company standards and procedures.
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in design processes.
Mentoring of new and junior level staff.
What you will bring to the team:
Associate's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in piping design, specifically within the oil and gas industry.
Expertise in piping design software and 3D modeling tools.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
Proficiency in piping design software (AutoCAD, Plant3D, CADWorx).
Working knowledge of intelligent P&ID creation.
Working knowledge of terrestrial survey requirements
Working knowledge of Recap, Navisworks and Point Cloud manipulation.
Knowledge of Revit is a plus but not required.
Strong understanding of piping design principles, including pipe routing, support design, and stress analysis.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API).
Experience with 3D modeling and clash detection software.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
Experience in Common Data Environments (CDE) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is desirable but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication skills and the ability to develop effective and credible relationships
