Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, IT or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and two years of simulation or directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s College of Medicine is seeking to hire a Medical Education Simulation Technologist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Executes operations related to the day-to-day functioning of the College of Medicine Simulation Lab (COMSim), in accordance with established USA policies and Medical Simulation Center policies and procedures.
Maintains knowledge of capabilities and correct use of all equipment and orients new users to simulation space and equipment.
Maintains knowledge of principles of medical physiology and correct performance of basic medical procedures, including administering medication, taking vitals, intubation, performing ECGs, etc.
Programs, sets up, verifies and operates simulation equipment, including high-fidelity mannequins and task trainers.
Operates audio/video capture equipment and software and monitors connectivity recording integrity during simulations, distributes media via electronic display, and initiates state changes in high-fidelity mannequins based on learner input.
Troubleshoots and remedies any technical equipment or practical issues as they occur during simulations and maintains log of issues.
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and simulators after use.
Alerts Assistant Director, Medical Education Simulation Operations and/or IT personnel to any issues that require professional maintenance or repairs.
Manages and disposes of sharps and bio-hazardous materials safely.
Assists Assistant Director, Medical Education Simulation Operations in inventory control and record keeping, as needed.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
Related duties as required.
