Kforce has a client in Austin, TX that is seeking a Controls Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Architect and specify requirements for interfacing automation equipment-conveyors, automated storage and retrieval systems, pick-and-place robots, automated guided vehicles-with production workflow
Interface with vendors and internal groups to understand, architect, specify, communicate, and execute required solutions
Proactively engage with stakeholders to monitor, troubleshoot, and implement changes based on defined KPIs
Communicate engineering requirements to the necessary stakeholders-external vendors and internal groups
Architect, write, and debug PLC ladder logic and structured text with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable; PLC code will interact with subsystems such as conveyors, robots, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), LabView, machine vision, and third-party equipment
Establish test plans and control test plan execution at vendors' sites and the company's facility during installation and buy-off
Introduce automated processes into production, and train Maintenance and Production teams to support them after deployment
Enforce the application of company standards and manage suppliers during specification, design review, design approval, installation, and commissioning
Create machine interactions with the plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to communicate product acceptability, machine status, and process variables
Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting
REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering, with a focus on material flow, supply chain, or process improvement (internships considered)
Experience designing and validating safety concepts for automated machinery with PLC logic (Siemens and/or SICK)
Experience quantitatively solving ambiguous problems at a systems level to inform decision-making
Experience designing, installing and troubleshooting electrical cabinets, field wiring and pneumatics
Proficiency in SEW software (Movisuite/Movitools), Siemens software(TIA portal, SIMATIC) and EPLAN software
Experience in design/implementation of automated systems projects, using motion control with Siemens and/or SEW products
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
