Your Role:
The Chemist II will be a lead within the Small Volume Manufacturing team in Carlsbad. In this role you will be supporting chemical purification scale up from R&D to pilot plant production. Utilizing the company's core quality and safety policies. You will be working closely with R&D, QC, Engineering and Supply Chain teams:
Lead and optimize chemical purification for amine, organosilane and organometallic chemicals. Work with R&D department and Engineering to transfer new chemicals onto pilot scale fractional distillation systems. Ensure chemical safety stock is maintained.
Lead purification, sampling, and chemical hazard reviews. Update SOPs and draft procedures. Train operators as needed.
Chemical sampling analytical data review and specification/verification. Trend investigation with purification and sampling system troubleshooting.
Communicating order status, analytical findings and providing feedback to the supply chain, Marketing and Engineering teams
Coordinating and setting priority of multiple simultaneous customer orders, assisting in chemical packaging for customer order fulfillment and adding technical input on complex container fills and chemical handling.
Assist in customer complaint investigations and troubleshooting.
Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintain a clean and efficient lab environment and update chemical inventory.

Physical Attributes:
Wearing full face air-purifying respirator and other PPE.
Lifting to 50 pounds.
Standing, sitting, or walking for up to 8 hours.
Raising arms up to and possibly above 90-degree angle.
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other Physical or Life Science discipline.
5+ years of experience handling chemicals in a laboratory environment
Knowledge and experience performing purification and packaging of specialty chemicals.
Knowledge and experience of various purification methods including fractional distillation and sublimation.
Industrial chemical production experience.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Experience using Microsoft suite including (Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint)
Experience using SAP, Intelex MOC, and LIMS systems.
Strong data analysis, attention-to-detail, and organizational skills.
