Barge Design Solutions is seeking to fill a Survey Field Technician position in Chattanooga, TN. This position executes defined field project plans. Learns how to perform basic field surveys, raw data reduction, field calculations, research, error analysis and other project deliverables.
Measures the size and shape of an area of land, perform spatial data analysis, and mapping activities.
Accurately identifies and maps position boundaries where land is subdivided, for public and private use.
Studies the natural and urban environment.
Physically sets out land and building developments. Applies learned knowledge by performing parts of GIS data collection, research and error analyze, etc.
Performs quality review of survey field activities, legal descriptions, maps, aerial photographs, calculations, and preliminary project deliverable.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor degree from accredited program or 6 years of progressive Geomatics, Surveying, or other relevant experience may count in place of degree. Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Surveying exam.
Ability to perform survey calculations and utilize CAD, GIS, or other relevant applications.
Work environment includes working out of doors and in rough terrain. Individuals will walk, sit, stand while operating various equipment, tools and machinery. Individuals may need to carry, push, pull, or lift up to 50. Individuals may need to climb to various elevations and requires visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/ numeric symbols and perform computation and design.
Valid driver's license and sufficient driving record.
Ability to work varying schedules
Ability to travel at times including overnight.
