JOB DUTIES:
Facility Maintenance and Grounds keeping:
•Lead the maintenance of park grounds by mowing lawns, pruning trees, and planting flowers for a well-kept appearance. Guide team members under general supervision.
•Oversee upkeep tasks to ensure buildings and equipment are in good condition, directing work assignments as needed under general supervision.
•Direct snow removal and debris clearing efforts for safety and cleanliness, providing instruction to team members while taking initiative in problem-solving for detailed tasks.
Lifeguard - Chadron State Park, Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, Fort Robinson State Park, Louisville SRA, Niobrara State Park, Platte River State Park, and Ponca State Park) - Certification Training Provided:
•Supervise pool safety, ensuring a secure environment for park visitors.
•Enforce safety regulations and lead emergency responses promptly under general supervision.
Lead Concessions/Guest Services - Lead Worker (Pool, Marina, Activity Center, Climbing Wall, and more):
•Manage and oversee guest services across various park facilities. Provide guidance and instructions to
•Direct work assignments, ensuring coordinated activities and services at different park amenities while taking initiative in solving detailed problems.
Head Wrangler:
•Lead horse trail ride operations.
•Manage horse-related activities, providing instructions and guidance to team members under general supervision.
•Ensure maintenance standards are met within the stable area and care for horses while leading the team under general supervision.
Jeep and Team Driver Positions - (Fort Robinson State Park):
•Drive off-road jeeps on tours within the park, ensuring passenger safety and proper equipment upkeep and maintenance.
•Operate horse or mule-pulled stagecoaches during guided park tours, prioritizing passenger and animal safety. Responsible for proper tack and equipment maintenance.
•Adhere to park driving guidelines, providing instructions and leadership during tours while independently resolving detailed issues as they arise.
Security - Lead Worker:
•Ensure safety measures are followed for visitor and park property protection.
•Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies under general supervision.
Office/Administrative - Lead Worker:
•Assist in office tasks such as reservations, record-keeping, customer inquiries, and deposit handling. Provide guidance and direction to team members under general supervision while taking initiative in problem-solving for most detailed tasks.
•Perform data entry and manage office supplies while providing instructions to team members under general supervision and taking the initiative in problem-solving for detailed tasks.
•Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for guests across park facilities.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: At least three months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework/training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: the operation of various types of powered equipment and machinery; modern office methods and procedures; housekeeping, food service, storekeeping, history, animal husbandry, agricultural practices, wildlife or recreation; the history, culture and recreational use of the tourist attraction.
Ability to: meet and deal effectively with the public; understand and follow instructions; make routine decisions; communicate effectively; apply proper phone etiquette; safely operate various types of powered equipment and machinery; add and subtract numbers and perform other basic arithmetic calculations; plan, assign and coordinate the work of others.
