A Day in the Life
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be a key contributor in the research, design, and development of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. This role involves supporting projects (Implantable Neurostimulators, External Neurostimulators and/or Patient Therapy Remotes) from conception to implementation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, product requirements and best practices.

As Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, you will focus on design and development of new products which is critical in the development of new designs and concepts for tooling, fixtures, individual components and assemblies. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise to advance existing technologies or introduce new technologies to market. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to execute independently after receiving high level scope and constraints.

Responsibilities may include the following:



  • Design and Development : Plan, design, develop, and verify mechanical and electromechanical systems,


  • Project Management : Manage projects through all stages, from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring they meet product requirements, technical specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.


  • Innovation and Improvement : Recommend and implement options or approaches to enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of systems, processes, and facilities.


  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical and systems engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.


  • Problem Solving : Analyze complex engineering problems, providing in-depth analysis and innovative solutions to improve processes and products.


  • Prototyping and Testing : Oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate and refine designs. This role will also be responsible for design characterization and design verification protocols, analysis and reports. This role could also include aspects of test equipment qualification and test method validation.


  • Documentation and Compliance : Prepare detailed engineering documentation and ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and department best practices.


  • Communication and Influence : Communicate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 4+ years experience in technical design and testing or engineering experience

  • OR Advanced Degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 2+ years experience in technical testing and testing or engineering experience.

Desired/Preferred qualifications


  • Experience generating system requirements for mechanical designs.

  • Experience with machining and material selection for rapid prototyping.

  • Able to work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to clearly document work, articulate and present ideas and tests results to a variety of audiences.

  • Experience working in regulated industries such as medical device.

  • Demonstrated ability for independent work.

  • Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$98,000 - $147,600

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
