About the job


In this role, you will have the opportunity to support relating to repair work for all Separation Product lines and Supervision to all Separation Service Center Shop Employees. This position provides support to the Order and Shop Coordinators, Shop Team Leads, and to Alfa Laval representatives and end users. Key areas include, provide support and supervision to the service center employees, provide direct support to outside sales for expedited


requests and information, and to continually seek ways to improve the repair processes and techniques. Currently, this is an on-site opportunity located in Greenwood, Indiana.




As part of the team, you will:


  • Supervise repair shop operations and workshop employees, request and provide drawings, research repair history, trouble shoot.
  • Communicate technical repair information to workshop and Team Leads and end users.
  • Lead and drive performance of the team and employees by having an active presence on the shop floor.
  • Continuously works towards capacity planning & training planning of the team members.
  • Determine necessary shop supplies and tooling.
  • Work with HR and Team on daily operational issues and support repair growth.
  • Provide Technical support and drawing interpretation for outside vendors and shop during repairs.
  • Hold weekly Production meeting and positive participation in daily ALPS cell board meetings and improvement initiatives. (weekly meeting is on hold due to pandemic)
  • Supervise shop safety and ensure shop safety inspections are complete and employees using proper PPE.
  • Work with management team on Quality and turnaround improvements and other shop projects.
  • Maintain Employee utilization reporting. Track and report
  • Update US Bank shop supplies account reconciliation and OPTO.
  • Open/close job folders maintain and track drawings, shop records, vendor PO, SOV and assist with accounting reconciliation.
  • Time record keeping and payroll.
  • Utilize programs,/systems to find information and to update modifications made on equipment.
  • Assist with developing and providing repair procedures covering multiple product lines.
  • Procure Engineering support as required and when needed for direction.
  • Review pre-estimates, contract proposals, and competitive bid documents for future repairs of equipment as required, proofread documents, quotes, letters as needed.
  • Drive performance meetings, improvement meetings and related ALPS activities. Be engaged and drive 5S projects, investment requests and process improvements in all areas.
  • Assist with opening IT and technical helpdesk tickets.
  • Responsible for Inventory and parts management assigned and allocated to cost center and jobs..
  • May need to make customer site visits as needed to provide technical support and maintain customer repair business.


The Shop Supervisor reports directly to Service Center Manager and works with Order / Shop Coordinators, functions with minimal supervision, works with all Team Members to provide solutions, solve problems, provide a positive customer experience, and to meet KPI's.


Position is based in a Service Center and office environment with approximately 70% of the time in the machine shop, welding area or assembly area. There is the possibility of encountering residues of customers' products.

What you know:



You have a HS Diploma or GED equivalent with relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Science or equivalent experience preferred.



  • Minimum 5 years' experience with repairing and reconditioning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience from improvement tools, e g Lean manufacturing (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on utilizing Excel to create Pivot Tables.
  • Fundamental knowledge of financial principles and practices.
  • Strong understanding of machining and welding techniques.
  • Strong communication and respectful interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform effectively within a team environment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of standard word processing software and spreadsheets.
  • Strong Customer Service skills.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within stressful situations.

  • Some travel within the USA to visit customers or other Service Centers; meetings; training.
  • Occasional requirements to travel outside of the USA to visit customers; training; meetings.
