Job Description:

The Nemours Children's Health Biomedical Research group seeks an experienced laboratory researcher to join their team. The Senior Research Technologist is expected to manage and conduct all technical aspects of new and ongoing research projects under the oversight of the project managers and principal investigators. Responsibilities include experimental design, performing experiments and procedures, and independent analysis and presentation of results. Candidates must be able to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions to technical problems of low to moderate scope using independent thinking, literature, and colleagues as resources to solve problems. Candidates are expected to possess broad professional knowledge of procedures and concepts. Experience supervising associates and author/co-author publications is a plus.

Qualifications:


  • Qualified applicants should have a M.S. in Biology/Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology (or equivalent field), or a B.S. in Biology (or equivalent field) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates must have experience in general molecular and cell biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction methods, real-time quantitative PCR, protein extraction and analysis, and animal cell culture.
  • Experience with virus propagation, infectious diseases, animal model research, and diagnostic assay development are pluses.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Follows all aspects of SOP's in the conduct of patient diagnostic testing.
  • Knowledge and performance of clinical diagnostics consistent with CAP and/or CLIA requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory environment and function at a level consistent with CAP and CLIA guidelines
  • Perform testing using a range of biochemical techniques under the direction of the Laboratory Head and/or lab managers.
  • Responsible for processing various biological specimens, following laboratory protocols
  • Understands the use of equipment within the laboratory
  • Utilize databases for diagnostic sample tracking and results.
  • Comply with safety policies specified by departmental and hospital regulations to ensure a safe work environment and prevent potential safety hazards
