Our staffing agency is partnering with a reputable company in Elkridge, MD, to find a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to support their purchasing department. Pay: $20-$21/hourly
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Responsibilities:
Assist in processing purchase orders and maintaining accurate records of all orders.
Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery information.
Monitor inventory levels and alert the team when stock is low or needs reordering.
Handle supplier inquiries regarding orders, deliveries, and any issues that may arise.
Assist in managing purchase requisitions, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained before order placement.
Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processing.
Help ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to purchasing and procurement.
Track shipments and deliveries to ensure on-time arrival and resolve any delays.
Assist with vendor negotiations when required and help ensure cost-effective purchasing.
Prepare and maintain reports related to purchasing activities, inventory, and supplier performance.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
1-2 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or administrative role is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with vendors and internal teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with purchasing software or ERP systems is a plus.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively manage vendor relationships.
