The Position is responsible for preparing financial records, such as journal entries, account reconciliations, cost analyses and margin reports. A successful Senior Accountant has the excellent analytical skills necessary to manage vast amounts of numerical data to calculate profit margins and recommend ways for an organization to minimize their costs. They also need a keen eye for details to update information regularly into accounting software programs and spot inaccuracies.
This position will collaborate with other accountants and financial staff in the company to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Month-end close account reconciliations and journal entries
Maintain item BOM's, Routings and Standard Costs
Create reports to analyze costs and margins
Supports and maintains our ERP system to accurately reflect costing methodology
Determine and calculate formulas for work center labor and overhead rates
Prepare Purchase Price Variance and Labor/Burder variance capitalization calculations
Prepare cost forecasts monthly
Assist with the timely and accurate maintenance, preparation and issuance of plant and corporate cost statements
Analyze month-end and year-end reports to identify and recommend cost-effective improvements
Variance analysis and review of cost allocation assumptions and rates
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials or manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost
Perform various customer and product profitability analysis including a monthly product costing variance analysis
Coordinate ad hoc reporting tasks with Business Controlling organization
Continuous improvement and digitalization for the Signature Systems organizations.
Collaborates with our Technical and R&D organizations on the development of the costing methodology, cost standards, and KPI reporting
Perform process improvement initiatives within Signature Systems in order to achieve productivity and efficiency gains
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in accounting or finance
Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
2+ years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing business
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
Familiarity with accounting software programs, such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Computer literacy skills including advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Windows Suite to include Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with Power BI a plus
Analytical skills with a keen sense of organization and detail
Proven time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines
Respect for confidentiality of information laws and local ethics
Expertise in activity-based costing for fixed and variable costs in relation to the overall direct cost of a line of products
Ability to travel to manufacturing plant in Orlando, Florida once a month for 2-4 days
