The Mortgage Loan Officer originates high-quality residential mortgages and equity loan applications by fostering partnerships with internal and external referral sources, as well as utilizing the existing pool of Credit Union members. The Mortgage Loan Officer will originate loans by assisting members in our contact center, handling inbound calls, making outbound calls to leads, and maintaining a strong network of business relationships that consistently generates referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities.
Responsibilities
Originate first mortgage and home equity loan applications
Counsel potential home buyers and existing homeowners while taking complete and accurate applications
Determine member's needs and offer the appropriate mortgage product
Obtain all required loan documentation
Independently assesses applicant's credit worthiness and qualification. Has the authority to extend pre-approval letters
Properly price and disclose loan applications
Coordinate member interaction and interface with all parties involved in the loan transaction
Make recommendation to members regarding other Credit Union products and services
Remain informed on trends, changes and developments in the mortgage lending industry including regulatory issues
Perform other related duties as assigned
Attend networking events
Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of professional mortgage experience including 1 year of mortgage sales experience
SAFE Act licensing and ability to obtain NMLS number
Bilingual - fluent in Spanish
Demonstrated strong attention to detail
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective problem-solving skills
Effective sales techniques
Ability to work on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters, Monday through Friday M-F, 9:30am - 6:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am - 1:00pm as needed
Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
