On-the-job training position for the Correctional Medication Aide (CMA) Training Program. This position is a training position contingent upon the successful completion of the CMA program and attainment of the CMA certification/permit from the licensing authority. During this training period, performs training as assigned, conducts other duties, and within scope of the Trainee position. These duties, within the health care department, may or may not be directly related to this position.

Major/Essential Functions
As a Correctional Medication Aide Trainee, you will receive on-the-job training at our Smith Unit in Lamesa, Texas. During this 8-week training program, you will be required to:
Complete the Correctional Medication Aide (CMA) training program application and process within one week of employment.
Willfully and actively participate in all assigned training related to the CMA training program offered through our partnering college. This includes completing all assigned work timely and actively engaging all live classroom and clinical instruction.
When not actively engaged in scheduled CMA training, you will conduct productive work within the medical department assigned by your supervisor, such work includes observing and shadowing other staff members; learning how to use Managed Care systems; completing new employee training/onboarding programs, and other duties as assigned.
As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete the 8-week Correctional Medication Aide training program, and subsequently pass the certification examination.
