The Grants and Financial Coordinator provides administrative pre-award services and processes grant and other research-related financial transactions primarily performed in Workday. This position assists in the preparation and review of all grant proposals for submissions using Coeus/Huron grant management system and sponsor submission portals and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of, interpreting and applying, applicable University policies. The Grants and Financial Coordinator will have a strong working knowledge of the Brown Chart of Accounts and policies and protocols related to transaction coding and approval. This position is expected to be customer focused and responsive to requests as they arise and use Workday Financials to assist Department's in administering/approving payroll costing, salary reallocations, effort certifications, summer salary, cost shares, cost transfers, journal entries, and financial reporting.
This position handles confidential information and is expected to maintain and secure privacy.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
Experience in an academic setting preferred
Highly proficient in financial reporting and spreadsheet applications with attention to detail.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, spreadsheets, and databases.
Customer service experience with a strong service-minded philosophy.
Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot issues when appropriate.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment.
Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
