Job Summary:
Caterpillar's Advanced Materials Technology Department is currently seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgical Engineer focused on metallurgical product development. In this role you will have an opportunity to analyze a wide variety of engine components providing design support, development, and the associated failure analysis investigations providing support to engine design groups.
What You Will Do:
• Providing product development technical and project management interface to management and internal clients.
• Performing data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts.
• Testing products, analyzing test data and making modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.
• Building, testing and modifying product prototypes using working models or theoretical models.
• Lead material and material failure analysis investigations
• Develop metallurgical testing plans and analyze test results
• Create technical reports and/or procedures
• Effectively communicate results to our internal customers
• Provide technical support to metallurgical laboratory operations personnel.
• Support deviation requests, assurance of supply opportunities
• Support needs of product design, supplier development engineers, etc
• Provide recommendations to Internal customers
Education Requirement:
• Bachelor's degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university

• Matches testing methodology and tools to product being tested; develops test scenarios and scripts.
• Estimates time, effort and resources required for thorough testing.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems:
• Troubleshoots typical technical problems in a specific area.
• Participates in setting evaluation standards and criterion for troubleshooting.
