Job Description:

The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a motivated individual to join our Office of Economic Assistance Team and fill the role of DHHS Program Coordinator.


Under limited supervision, a Program Coordinator coordinates the administration of various state and federally funded programs throughout the state to include grant/contract administration, budget monitoring, and the development of program policies, procedures, and evaluation criteria to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; performs related work as required.


To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to:


  • Research, review, analyze, and interpret federal regulations and laws, state laws, and their administrative requirements to formulate appropriate policies, procedures, and interpretations.



  • Explain, clarify, and interpret operational practices, policies, procedures, and federal and state regulations to agency staff, community organizations, and the public.



  • Assess program effectiveness, identify training needs/requirements, and participate in developing training materials.



  • Develop the necessary resources and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation and coordination of all programs, departmental divisions, and outside agencies.



  • Draft, develop, and implement policy, procedure, agreements, and program regulations as needed.



  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.



  • Manage the program budget.



  • Monitor subrecipients and provide training and technical assistance.



Hiring Wage: $25.563


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Dress Attire: Business Casual


Driving is Required



Requirements/Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, health sciences, public health, education, law or related field OR experience in the development of operational policies and procedures, performing quality assurance analysis/evaluation of programs; grant writing, contract management, or leading community based health/social care groups. Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • A minimum of one year experience working with grants, budgets, subawards/contracts, and/or human service programs.



  • Ability to analyze, develop, and organize materials.



  • Work collaboratively in a team setting.



  • Communicate effectively electronically, virtually, and in person.



  • Exercise independent critical thinking skills.



  • Knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.




Other:



Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities




Experience monitoring subrecipients; researching and interpreting federal and state regulation; communicating with stakeholders; analyzing/evaluating program implementation; managing a program budget; and providing technical assistance and training to subrecipients.




Knowledge of: basic accounting and business administration; social work and management theory; the structure of organizations; state, local and federal laws and programs relating to social service programs; available funding sources; human dynamics; learning/teaching techniques.



Ability to: relate well with a diverse number of individuals or organizations; analyze community's present needs and recommend programs to achieve desired results; work with people in a variety of roles (leadership, cooperation, education, networking).



Skill in: persuading others to adopt programs; presenting information to groups or individuals in oral or written form; problem solving; prioritizing; goal setting; conflict resolution.
