Job Description:

Come join the team at Cornhusker State Industries (CSI)! We provide workforce training and development to nearly 500 incarcerated men and women. CSI is a financially self-supported program of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). We are looking for a candidate who is versed in manufacturing, has the ability to effectively supervise, and can meet deadlines. The Inventory Control Manager is responsible to oversee the requisitioning, warehousing, and transfer of raw materials and supplies to support business units in five NDCS facilities. Lead inventory process improvement. Complete daily cycle counts and select annual inventories. Effective communication with purchasing, sales, production, and vendors is essential.

Duties



Support a diverse manufacturing and service organization by tracking material inventory levels, maintaining adequate quantity on hand while avoiding overstock. Orders appropriate quantities of raw materials as needed taking advantage of quantity discounts. Manage receiving process to ensure quality and accuracy. Manage raw, material stock levels across multiple shops. Train and supervise inmate workers and clerks. Maintain accurate raw material inventory throughout CSI shops. Identify potential suppliers and evaluate all suppliers' performance. Supervise and train offenders to assemble and package products.



Requirements/Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications: High school education plus four to six years related work experience, two of which should have been in a supervisory capacity.



Preferred Qualifications: Diverse raw materials knowledge including wood, wood products, steel, hardware, upholstery and clothing fabrics. Experience assembling products in a manufacturing environment; using Inventory Tracking Software in a manufacturing environment; material resource planning (MRP) experience; APICS membership/certification; physical inventory, cycle counts, warehouse management experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.



Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Applicant accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.



Knowledge, skills and abilities



Knowledge of: agency policies, rules, and regulations; quality assurance and production standards; state purchasing procedures; inventory control systems. Ability to: train inmates in assemblies and power tool operation, read blueprints, the coordinate flow of raw materials to meet CSI production schedules, develop and maintain inventory control systems; develop and implement a quality assurance program for warehouse operations. Knowledge of: warehouse and storage operations; inventory control; office policies and procedures; agency manufacturing and production standards; machinery and building maintenance; basic accounting practices. Ability to: plan, organize and delegate the work of subordinate staff and legal offenders; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; organize and utilize storage area.
