The Shipping & Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the distribution process at the plant level, ensuring the timely and cost-efficient delivery of inventory and finished goods. This position works closely with production and sales teams to coordinate outbound shipments, ensuring the accurate and on-time delivery of orders to customers.
Job Responsibilities:
Shipping Documentation: Process bills of lading, shipping documents, freight bills, and other relevant paperwork to ensure all shipments are documented correctly
Shipping Office Management: Ensure the shipping office is fully stocked and organized, with all necessary supplies ordered and ready for daily operations
Route Organization: Develop and organize shipping routes to optimize delivery times and reduce costs
Outbound Shipment Coordination: Coordinate outbound shipments with sales and production personnel to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries
Carrier & Customer Communication: Liaise with shippers, carriers, and customers to expedite deliveries, resolve any issues, and maintain strong business relationships
Team Communication: Communicate effectively with production and sales teams to ensure alignment on delivery schedules and inventory requirements
Shipping Department Monitoring: Monitor and report on the productivity of the shipping department, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards
Leadership Support: Step in as Traffic Manager or Shipping Supervisor when required, providing leadership and support in their absence
Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the shipping and transportation functions
Qualifications:
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: 1+ years in an administrative support role in a professional setting
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to different teams
Administrative Skills: Knowledge of office procedures and systems such as file management, record keeping, and designing forms
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on efficiency and attention to detail
