Under the general direction of a Maintenance Manager, the HVAC Maintenance Leader Trainee plays a critical role in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building automation systems in a large industrial facility. This position requires a basic understanding in engineering principles and practices to effectively complete work orders, perform preventive maintenance, and execute repair tasks while fostering positive customer relationships. This role will have experience with industrial HVAC systems, particularly in settings such as airports, and knowledge of chiller plant operations and automated building control systems. Exceptional customer service skills are required to address tenant and employee temperature concerns, while flexibility and adaptability are crucial to navigating changing priorities in a dynamic work environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Possess a strong knowledge of mechanical systems and controls.
Comprehend basic HVAC concepts and principles.
Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing training and regular review of product catalogs, specifications, and dealer websites.
Design and program systems using direct digital controls and automation for optimal comfort and energy efficiency.
Configure programs, graphics, and alarms for site-specific control systems.
Develop or modify sequences of operations based on specific requirements.
Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on HCAA building BAS systems.
Utilize various hand tools and test equipment while ensuring their proper functionality.
Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize job needs across multiple projects.
Serve as a direct contact for customers, providing training and ensuring customer satisfaction by addressing concerns and implementing corrective actions.
Communicate effectively with staff and provide feedback to customers regarding their concerns.
Exhibit flexibility to work outside regular hours or on weekends as needed.
Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.
COMPENSATION
$20.00 per hour
REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS
In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.
Three (3) years of experience in control/mechanical systems are required.
· Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.
· Must possess a valid, current Florida Class E Driver License when operating an Authority vehicle or driving on behalf of the Authority.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with programmable controllers.
Johnson Controls Metasys experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of energy management systems, HVAC systems, and temperature controls.
Knowledge of new construction, renovation/retrofit, and service project processes.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and their applications in a maintenance environment.
