Summary:
This position independently performs advanced neurodiagnostic procedures, including EEG and Long Term Video EEG monitoring procedures in all settings (ACS, ED, critical care, neonatal ICU. Neurodiagnostic procedures, including patient interaction, safety, and appropriate system settings, are tailored to the individual patient's needs, the reason for the referral, and medical history. Competent technical recording of Neurodiagnostic procedures requires the technologist to exercise a significant degree of independent judgment, technical troubleshooting and communication with all members of the healthcare team, patient and family.
Responsibilities:
* Core skills and knowledge: The electroencephalographic (EEG) technologist has the knowledge base to interact with the patient and obtain a quality, interpretable EEG recording that will yield information about the brain’s neuronal activity. The technologist possesses the appropriate knowledge level of diseases to correlate patient history and clinical symptoms to determine appropriate maneuvers to be performed during the EEG.
* Specific Abilities:
* High proficiency in all aspects of EEG done within the department with understanding of ACNS Guidelines and recommendations and in adherence with Children’s Health Policies & Procedures and department standard workflows.
* Able to precept EEG portions of the competency during onboarding.
* Has developed proficiency in a wide range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
* Understands the roles of all immediate team members and has a good understanding of how own team integrates with other departments and providers internal and external to the department .
* Regularly provides guidance and support to more junior team members on challenging technical problems; helps them balance their workload and apply their technical skills.
* Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or occur infrequently based on defined procedures and existing protocols.
* Impacts the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of the team
* Works within defined processes but may develop an appropriate approach for new assignments
* Explains complex technical information in situations that may be challenging with respect to controversial subject matter or characteristics of the audience
* Performs advanced neurodiagnostic procedures to include routine and continuous EEG techniques in all situations and in all age groups independently with minimal supervision.
* Performs competency check off and onboarding duties as assigned by manager or team leader.
* Learns to perform advanced intracranial EEG/EP recordings during special studies or neurosurgical intra-operative or extra-operative cases, topographic mapping of EEG/EP data and NCVs as needed by the department.
* Performs or learns to perform other neurodiagnostic procedures duties as related to the laboratory as required.
* Will attempt to obtain appropriate credentials for subspecialty procedures for which they are regularly performing in the department, once eligibility criteria is reached.
* Attends continuing educational courses and seminars on electroneurodiagnostic testing.
* Participates in performance improvement projects as required.
* Performs all modalities of evoked potentials with high quality results in both the laboratory and intensive care units.
* Performs advanced neurodiagnostic procedures to include digital EEG, topographic mapping of EEG/EP data and NCVs.
* Learns to perform advanced EEG/EP recordings during special studies or neurosurgical intraoperative cases.
* Participates in conferences and special meetings.
* Attends scientific courses and seminars on electroneurodiagnostic testing.
* Performs other duties as related to the laboratory as required.
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
You may be required to float occasionally to other Children's Health locations including Dallas, Plano and THD Clinics.(Start time hours can be discussed during interviews)

* Current Registry in EEG (R.EEG T.) by ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing Organization Upon Hire Req
* Current Registry in Evoked Potentials R.EP T. Pref
* Current Certification or Eligible for Certification in Long Term EEG Monitoring (CLTM; ABRET) Pref
* Current Registry or Registry eligible for in Nerve Conduction Study Pref
* Current registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologist RPSGT Pref
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Upon Hire Req
