The Regulatory Specialist will be involved in all aspects of Regulatory Compliance for all Kent Precision Foods Group facilities.  This includes, but is not limited to, creating ingredient statements, creating nutrition panels, naming of finished product, creating product specifications, managing ingredient supplier documentation.  The individual will keep up and be knowledgeable with all current food regulations of the US FDA and USDA. The individual will be knowledgeable of International Regulations.

Position Summary

The Regulatory Specialist will be involved in all aspects of Regulatory Compliance for all Kent Precision Foods Group facilities.  This includes, but is not limited to, creating ingredient statements, creating nutrition panels, naming of finished product, creating product specifications, managing ingredient supplier documentation.  The individual will keep up and be knowledgeable with all current food regulations of the US FDA and USDA. The individual will be knowledgeable of International Regulations. The individual will work closely with all internal departments to help them understand all aspects of Regulatory compliance.     

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • Create and update ingredient declarations for both new and existing products.

  • Create and update nutrition panels for both new and existing products.

  • Create, manage and update all appropriate regulatory documents (ex:  allergen, GMO, Country of Origin, % range breakdown, customer questionnaires, gluten, natural, SDS, etc.)

  • Keep current with both FDA and USDA government food / labeling regulations.

    • Update appropriate departments and/or members of the company regarding future government regulation changes/updates (definite and/or pending) that will/may affect KPFG’s products.



  • Manage the Regulatory aspects of exported products.

  • Create, proof-read and update product specifications as needed.  

    • Coordinate with Marketing and Sales.



  • Create and/or assist in creating labels for new and/or current items.

    • Proof-read all printed labels, pre-printed packages (pouch and case) and in-line printed labels (pouch and case) prior to final printing.

    • Coordinate the approval process of all new and updated labels. 



  • Manage, maintain and update ingredient file.

    • Contact ingredient suppliers for needed ingredient documents.



  • Travel to customers, trade shows, industry events, customer events, company meetings, etc. as needed.

  • Provide regulatory support to internal and external customers.  

  • Mentor less senior members of department.

  • Provide needed and/or requested regulatory guidance to members of other departments and KPFG facilities. 

Education


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science area or equivalent work experience.

Experience & Qualifications


  • 3 years work experience with a focus on Regulatory Compliance, Nutrition, Research & Development and/or Quality.

  • Good computer skills (Product Vision software knowledge a plus)
