This is an open position with Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [MP]

This is a position located at the Fort Martin Power Station, Maidsville, WV.


JOB SUMMARY:

This position will perform duties of outage and non-outage project coordinator. The Advanced Generation Specialist is proficient in the business unit's technical and/or business processes and possesses intermediate troubleshooting skills.

The Senior Generation Specialist has matured to the full point of competency and proficiency; possesses strong element skills and knowledge; focuses on continuous improvement and provides leadership on initiatives and projects.


DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing activities related to contractor-performed outage and non-outage projects including material procurement, contract administration, materials and tool expediting.
  • Coaching, guidance to and oversight of outage coordinators.
  • Developing estimates for labor and material
  • Preparing and maintaining outage and project records.
  • Coordinating outage and project work within an approved schedule and budget.
  • Developing and submitting outage/project work orders.
  • Providing support for assessing risk and developing risk mitigation plans for outage/project work.
  • Maintaining the outage work backlog.
  • Providing planning support for forced outages and planned outage projects.
  • Developing outage scope documents.
  • Providing safety oversight of contractor-performed outage and non-outage projects.
  • Providing contractor safety orientation; completing company required incident reports; supporting safety investigations and audits and performing periodic contractor safety assessments.
  • Assisting the Outage Supervisor in the execution of forced outages and with developing project estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Supporting other station personnel in monitoring station equipment system health and maintenance.
  • The candidate may be assigned to afternoon or night shifts to perform duties of Outage Supervisor on afternoon or night shifts.
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • In lieu of a degree a minimum of 4-7 years in a power plant setting or work management is preferred.
  • Senior candidates, in addition to meeting the requirements above, should also meet the following: Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or Bachelors related field or 7-10 years of experience in power plant setting or work management is preferred.
  • Understand basic power station operation, equipment, and procedures.
  • Be proficient in work management software and have strong SAP knowledge
  • Qualified or able to qualify in the use of various power station support and mobile equipment (Overhead cranes, mobile cranes, fork trucks, etc).
  • Experience with coordinating projects, outages or equivalent projects is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required.
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Experience with scheduling software is preferred.
  • Willing to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines and to ensure resolution of issues and problems.
  • Good motivational talents and demonstrated capabilities to set well defined performance expectations related to safety, housekeeping, environmental compliance, and work quality.
