Nemours is seeking an Registered Nurse for the Trauma Research Performance Improvement Coordinator position! Research and performance improvement activities are essential components of a Level I trauma center. The trauma performance improvement (PI) / research coordinator works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Medical Director, and Trauma Director on clinical and research components of the Trauma Program. This person is responsible for day-to-day performance improvement initiatives surrounding trauma patients and ensuring compliance with the American College of Surgeon's research criteria for a Level I Trauma Center,
Responsibilities:
1.Coordinates, participates and documents trauma performance improvement activities: analyzes data to identify opportunities for improvement and develops corrective actions to reduce the risk of patient harm. Tracks/trends OFIs and facilitates the development of strategies for sustained improvement.
2. Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Medical Director, and Trauma Director to develop and implement policies, procedures, and clinical management guidelines to improve clinical outcomes.
3. Seeks appropriate grant proposals related to trauma research projects.
4. Collaborates and assists Trauma Operations Committee members, physician investigators, trauma registry staff, and other interested parties, with the design, implementation, interpretation and submission for publication all trauma related research studies.
5. Coordinates the fulfillment of research requirements according to ACS Standards: 10 trauma-related research articles during the verification cycle, with least 3 articles authored by general surgery/pediatric trauma providers. All articles must be published or accepted for publication in peer-reviewed and indexed journals.
6. Coordinates IRB submissions related to trauma research. Ensures compliance with IRB for all trauma related research activities.
7. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing Research to facilitate hospital wide participation in trauma related research initiatives.
8. Facilitates trauma research committee meetings.
9. Participates in injury prevention efforts as related to trauma registry data.
10. Monitors and interprets TQIP data and disseminates findings in the appropriate forums.
11.Assists with collection of data and maintaining trauma databases as required by the State of Delaware and the American College of Surgeons.
