The Avionics Engineering Lead for Gateway IMS will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Avionics Engineer Lead will be supporting the Gateway Avionic Sub-System, a critical sub-system of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon.
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify inconsistencies in the Gateway IMS architecture as it applies to avionic requirements.
  • Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents.
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering.
  • Coordinate and orchestrate product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities.
  • Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications including integrated analyses and decomposition.
  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews.
  • Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses with mitigation strategies.
  • Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents.
  • Work and present schedule and progress to customers and boards/panels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have 2+ years of recent and related experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.

DESIRED:

  • BS degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork.
  • Experience with NASA processes.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located onsite.
  • This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
  • This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
