For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $164,000 - $246,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We are hiring a Principal Mechanical Product Design Engineer with a strong background in Electromechanical Product Design to join the Schneider Electric Prosumer NAM Hub Team.

What will you do?

  • Spearhead product design throughout the engineering process; leading from concept to mass production within a collaborative global R&D team
  • Design and analysis of mechanical components and assemblies including plastics, sh eet metal, die castings, insulation systems, heatsinks, busbars, harnesses, and more
  • Solve electronics packaging issues such as dense product layout, insulation, structure & mounting, thermals, ingress protection, interconnections, etc.
  • Optimize mechanical designs for size, weight, durability, performance and cost
  • Incorporate mechanical designs with high-voltage electrical systems, power electronics, and batteries in a diverse collaborative environment.
  • Conduct trade-off studies between performance , mass, volume, cost, manufacturability, reliability, and environmental factors
  • Generate and refine mechanical designs and drawings in PTC Creo/PDM/Ansys
  • Pioneer product innovations to satisfy market requirements; prioritizing performance, cost, ease of installation, and design aesthetic
  • Apply engineering expertise to establish robust structural, thermal, ingress protection, electrical connection, and material performance, as well as manufacturability
  • Steer product design vision and validation, analyze test/simulation outcomes, and drive issue resolution
  • Influence project strategy with insightful personal and team schedule estimation
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of experience in consumer facing product design, preferably in the Residential Solar or EV charging space
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing detailed designs through CAD models and drawings of both electrical enclosures and hardware
  • Expertise in densely integrated products encompassing batteries , and power electronics , PCBAs , and electrical bussing .
  • Experience designing products with sheet metal, weldments, injection-molded plastics, die-casts, busbars, and harnessing for prototype and high-volume production
  • Strong design for excellence (DFX) mentality and sound engineering design methodologies: minimum constraint design, tolerance stack-up analysis, 8D RCA approach, and GD&T ASME Y14.5-2018 drawing expertise
  • Understanding of electrical design fundamentals such as creepage and clearance
  • Extensive knowledge designing in compliance with regulatory standards (UL/IEC/NEC)
  • Familiarity with BOM, DFMEA, FTA, and DVT processes is preferred
