Job Description:

Salary Range: $6,806.73 - $9,820.80 Monthly


SUMMARY


The Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Office is responsible for developing and overseeing a centralized project and portfolio management strategy across the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS), with an emphasis on providing oversight and management support for DHS strategic objectives.  The PPM Office sits within the DHS Population Health Unit and works with teams and projects across the Department.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Developing, maintaining and refining standardized project management (PM) templates that reflect PM best practices.

  • Facilitating workgroups and/or 1:1 sessions with PM staff across DHS to communicate PM expectations and provide support with using required PM templates and tools.

  • Developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and other stakeholder materials to monitor and communicate the health of the DHS project portfolio.

  • Developing and refining staff-facing training and reference materials to support overall project management capacity building across the organization.

  • Learning, configuring, maintaining and optimizing the selected PPM collaboration platform.

  • Supporting the PPM Director with oversight of DHS’ strategic project portfolio.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS


The ideal candidate has a facilitative leadership approach and experience creating an inclusive environment for continuous learning and improvement.  They are a great verbal and written communicator, problem solver, and analytical thinker with the ability to engage stakeholders and understand and respond to their needs in rapidly changing environments.  The successful candidate will have recent tangible experience with project management that they can leverage to help other project managers improve their skillset.


Education/Experience



  • 1+ years of experience in project management, which includes planning, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring activities and deliverables using a project work plan.

  • Experience using common project management tools and templates, and familiarity with project management approaches/concepts.

  • Experience developing a variety of stakeholder materials, including but not limited to data charts/reports, concise PowerPoint slides/stakeholder presentations, and staff training materials/guides.


Certificates/Licenses/Clearances



  • Successful clearing through the Live Scan and health clearance processes with the County of Los Angeles.


Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Knowledge of Excel formulas and/or Smartsheet is a plus
