The scaffold journeyman builds, positions, and dismantles scaffold structures from wood, steel frames and steel poles according to sketches, blueprints, manufactures instructions and or company standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The scaffold journeyman builds, positions, and dismantles scaffold structures from wood, steel frames and steel poles according to sketches, blueprints, manufactures instructions and or company standards.
Will work with civil crew when not performing scaffold duties.
A valid driver's license is required to operate any motorized vehicle on the client's property.
Examines, selects and gathers materials and tools
Examines blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure
Inspect base surface for obstructions
Loads, transports and unloads material
Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber
Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes
Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars
Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces, planks and toe boards
Use effective verbal and written communication skills
Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees
Be motivated and work safely and productively
Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc.
Additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years of Journeyman experience in craft
The employee must be able to use standard and/or metric rule to measure
Demonstrate ability to use whole numbers, fractions and decimals to add, subtract, multiply and divide and be able to accurately follow instructions
Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Ability to calculate the amount of material needed to erect a specific scaffold from the instructions given
Ability to figure materials for several different designs of scaffold
Ability to read measuring tapes, and to understand the use of levels
Ability to read and understand methods and procedures that are present on drawings, layout work, and just specification
