Overview

We are seeking a full-time Site Reliability Engineer 1 in our Yarmouth, ME location.This role requires you to currently live in ME. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with ensuring the integrity of Garmin's production environment is maintained and that all releases into the environment are well-organized, communicated, and managed.

Essential Functions


  • Assist with executing basic releases into Garmin's non-production environments

  • Build and/or maintain basic tools to automate the generation of basic reports for real-time and stored data and automate processes that introduce change to the environment

  • Assist with performing gating activities to ensure successful deployments and environment availability

  • Utilize real-time monitoring to ensure stability of Garmin software systems

  • Assist with problem resolution and debugging (including code-level debugging) and investigate basic issues to eliminate recurrence

  • Communicate release information effectively to team members and release stakeholders

  • Work with Software Engineers to correlate basic production issues to recent releases

  • Apply design standards and procedures using appropriate engineering tools to document and implement basic designs in an organized manner

  • Participate as needed with on-call rotation and support of local and remote locations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of analysis, design and configuration of complex multi-tiered server applications

  • Demonstrates familiarity with SDLC, Quality Standards, and Best Practices

Desired Qualifications

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)

  • Experience and/or training supporting Linux and/or Windows based server installations

  • Experience and/or training with Linux and/or Windows based scripting

  • Experience and/or training with version control system such as GIT / Subversion

  • Experience and/or training with build and deployment automation

  • Experience and/or training with application appropriate language such as Java /J2EE or C#
