WHAT IS THIS POSITION RESPONSIBLE FOR?
Engage with individuals involved in the legal system by participating in assessments at the Vanderburgh County Corrections Facility.
Participate in all strategic planning, program development, and stakeholder outreach activities relevant to the Vanderburgh County Jail-Based Competency Restoration (JBCR) program.
Attend scheduled quarterly meetings with DMHA regarding the JBCR program.
Provide services to meet need: primarily jail based, with some remote and community office-based time.
Participate in JBCR program development activities.
Provide legal education services to JBCR program participants.
Provide individual, group therapy and evidence-based practices as indicated to adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use diagnoses.
Serve as the mental health court liaison for Vanderburgh County Mental Health Court.
Complete comprehensive assessments for mental health court & recovery works referral participants.
Serve as the primary therapist/clinician providing individual therapy to applicable Mental Health Court participants.
Will meet with mental health court participants routinely to assess progress and barriers to successfully completing mental health court.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of work is provided in the community. Office space is provided as well.
Master of Social Work, or related degree, with one year experience working with the seriously mentally ill and forensic population preferred.
A condition of continued employment does require the successful passing of the exam for licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or must become licensed within six (6) months of eligibility and continued progress towards obtaining licensing as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Must possess interest and ability to work with those who have serious mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders; experience with homeless population preferred.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
