The Color Lab Technician is responsible for conducting color matching and formulation tests, preparing color samples, and ensuring color accuracy and consistency for silicone filling production lines using advanced equipment. They document and analyze test results, collaborate with the production team to maintain color standards, and troubleshoot color-related issues. Additionally, they maintain an organized lab environment and stay updated on industry trends and advancements in color technology.
The ideal candidate is meticulous and technically skilled, with a strong background in chemistry, materials science, or a related field. They should have proven experience in a color lab and be proficient in using color measurement instruments and software. The candidate must possess an eye for color differences. They should also be able to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a clean and organized lab environment and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct color matching and formulation tests using various color measurement instruments and software.
Use customer custom color standards to determine pigment formula which will be used in creating custom-colored silicones for production based on customer requirements.
Perform routine and specialized tests to ensure color accuracy and consistency.
Maintain samples for a specified time deriving from customer requirements.
Document and analyze test results, maintaining accurate records of all color formulations and adjustments.
Collaborate with the production team to ensure that color standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
Assist in troubleshooting color-related issues and provide technical support for color quality control.
Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and in good working condition.
Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in color technology, and best practices in color testing and formulation.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
Related previous lab experience or training.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to maintain and safely utilize various pieces of lab equipment.
Strong mindfulness and an eye for color differences and subtleties.
Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast paced, stressful environment.
Ability to work with and meet deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
Associate degree in chemistry or lab-based sciences
Proven experience in a color lab or a similar role
Proficiency in using color measurement instruments and software (e.g., spectrophotometers, colorimeters, color formulation software).
Familiarity with safety protocols and standard laboratory practices.
