Job Summary

The Nursing Department is seeking adjunct applicants for the Spring 2022 semester.


Responsible for teaching Nursing Assisting (NA) courses didactically and clinically in accordance with the philosophy, vision, mission, policies, and procedures of the college. Faculty will follow curriculum set per the Arizona State Board of Nursing (AZBN - Article 8) to include course classroom theory, and skill sets. Instructor will also supervise students during clinical rotations, at approved medical facilities, as scheduled within the course. Instructors are responsible for preparing students for the state certification/licensure exams (written and skills).

Responsibilities


Teaching/Preparation/Evaluation:



  • Teach assigned classes in accordance with college policy and in a variety of potential modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, Interactive Television (iTv), Weekend College, accelerated, evening or late start classes) on any campus, site or center as directed by division chair or program director.

  • Provide and present information, content, and context through lecture, laboratory, recitation, seminars and/or other learning venues utilizing a variety of teaching/learning styles as appropriate to the course content.

  • Employ a variety of assessment tools; evaluate grades and comment on student work in a timely fashion in order to facilitate and ensure student progress throughout the course.

  • Communicate with students as appropriate. This may include email, online discussions, virtual chats within the Learning Management System, instant messaging (IM), telephone and/or face-to-face consultations to provide frequent feedback. Refer students to appropriate college and community services when needed.

  • Communicate to students when and how they will be available to assist students outside of scheduled class time.

  • Maintain records of student progress and performance; complete and return required reports to the appropriate office by established due date.

  • Develop, prepare and evaluate instructional materials, as required by chair or director.

  • Write and develop syllabi and course calendars, in accordance with college policy.

  • Review and update course outlines and syllabi, and provide input on text selection when appropriate, in cooperation with other faculty and appropriate division chair or program director as necessary.

  • Collaborate with division chair, program director, other faculty and other programs to review and maintain the integrity of the curriculum within established college timelines or more frequently if necessary.

  • Assist in recruitment and retention of students through the development and implementation of teaching and learning strategies primarily in the instructional setting.

  • Cultivate development of instructional programs and knowledge of trends, pedagogy, andragogy, and new technologies.

  • Participate in the evaluation process as defined by Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications



Salary

: $775.00 per credit hour





Education:


    Hold a current, registered nurse (RN) license that is active and non-encumbered, and provide documentation of a minimum of one year (1500 hours) working as an RN providing direct patient care in any setting
    AND, one of the following:Minimum one-year (1500 hours) experience supervising nursing assistants.Minimum one-year (1500 hours) experience teaching adults as a faculty member or clinical educator.
  • Completion of a 40-hour education program in adult teaching and learning concepts that awarded continuing education credit by an accredited organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



Duties require physical effort in working with moderate (up to 50 lbs). Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, repetitive motion and viewing a monitor. Some specialized faculty positions may require the lifting of heavier weights although lifting may be assisted.



INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:



Demonstrate the willingness as well as the capacity to cooperate in a professional and courteous manner with other college employees and students. Share knowledge and contribute to helping others collegially while supporting the mission of the college.



WORKING CONDITIONS:


This position is performed in a classroom and/or lab skills area. These areas may have occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements. The position requires transportation to variety of clinical nursing facilities.
