CERTIFIED CRANE OPERATOR




Where will you work: Onsite at Carlsbad, NM (1361 Potash Mines Road - Carlsbad, NM 88220)


This position is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of surface mobile cranes which include both lattice boom and telescopic boom cranes and other maintenance duties as assigned.



What you'll do:



  • Drive cranes from storage area to work site at various points in the plant and back to storage area.

  • Set up cranes at the work site with appropriate crane pads as ground conditions and job dictate. Ensuring proper barriers are in place around crane working area. Tear down of crane after job.

  • Common lifting tasks (not limited to): Lifting of equipment, lifting of personnel, construction jobs, and demolition jobs.

  • Understand all company policies, safety regulations and MSHA regulations. Participation in creating lift plans for critical lifts.

  • Perform daily inspection, preventive maintenance, lubrication as well as general mechanical practices per OEM manuals on all mobile cranes. Wash and clean cranes at the end of shift.

  • Perform area inspections daily of shop and storage areas. Ownership of all crane pads and man baskets, ensure all are properly stored at end of each shift.

  • Any other job and tasks as assigned. Must be willing to work overtime including callouts.




What you'll need:



Education/License/Certification/Training: Minimum high school diploma/GED. Required to have a NM certification for lattice boom and/or telescopic boom cranes (preferred both) with an accredited program, examples are: National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), Crane Institute Certification (CIC), Operating Engineers Certification Program (OECP), or National Center for Construction Education & Research (CCER).


Skills/Knowledge/Character: This position requires a candidate with a strong background in crane operation, including load charts, lift plans, crane set up, and safe rigging practices. Must be able to read, write, and should have a good understanding of basic mathematics. Applicant must be able to distinguish colors and have good vision. Applicant must be fluent in English.

Physical Demands: Must be able to use the necessary equipment and tools to perform the job duties. The candidate must be able to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent stooping, bending, walking.


Safety: Must wear all personal protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations in accomplishing the job functions. Candidate is also responsible for being a Safety Leader by encouraging crew members' compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
