We are seeking a talented Desktop Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Desktop platforms including VDI technologies (Horizon, AWS, Azure) and a deep understanding of M365, including Intune for Mobile and Windows management. Additionally, experience with coding (PowerShell, Python), APIs, and application packing is essential. This role will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our desktop infrastructure and the delivery of exceptional user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
M365 Administration:
Administer M365 workloads, including O365, Intune and Autopilot.
Good understanding of EntraID/AzureAD capabilities like Conditional Access, PIM, sign in and audit logs, etc.
Manage mobile device policies and security.
Deploy and manage Windows applications using Intune and ConfigMgr in co-managed state.
Desktop/Laptop Infrastructure:
Design, implement, and maintain desktop infrastructure.
Provide tier 3 escalations to helpdesk and end-users.
Perform system upgrades and patch management
VDI Management:
Manage and maintain VDI environments using AWS Workspaces, Azure (AVD or W365) and/or Horizon.
Familiarity with the different states of VDI (persistent, non-persistent, application hosting/virtualization)
Troubleshoot and resolve VDI issues.
Optimize VDI availability, performance and scalability.
Scripting and Automation:
Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell and Python to automate tasks.
Integrate APIs to streamline workflows.
Software Lifecycle Management and Application Packaging:
Package and deploy applications using Microsoft Endpoint Manager tools (SCCM, Intune).
Optimize application configuration, performance and compatibility.
Security:
Familiarity with Security agents and troubleshooting
Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Conduct root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurring problems.
Ability to review logs, Process monitor, fiddler, etc. to find root cause of issues
Qualifications for this role include:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in desktop engineering or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of VDI technologies (Horizon, AWS, Azure).
In-depth understanding of M365, including Intune and Autopilot.
Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Windows and Linux desktop OS management
