POSITION SUMMARY


The Application Engineer provides pre-sales technical expertise to the Sales team and customers during the sales process focused on Low Voltage Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards and Busway. The Application Engineer provides technical input into bid proposals, projects and technical documents within the sales process and identifies additional sales opportunities with existing customers. The Application Engineer collaborates with sales and engineering teams to develop and recommend products and services to meet customers' requirements. This position reports in office either in Anderson, SC or Delaware, OH.


RESPONSIBILITIES



Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or RFP's, ensuring proper scope and required technical specifications are met.
  • Perform equipment selections and technical calculations to meet requirements of Low Voltage Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards and Busway applications.
  • Apply Quote Configurator tool to provide comprehensive quote support.
  • Assist in the review of custom service & solution orders and provide technical instruction throughout the order workflow.
  • Maintain positive, progressive, and productive attitude toward plant targets and objectives regarding reliability, accountability, safety, integrity, quality, and productivity as a unified goal.
  • Provide technical support to our switchgear and busbar business and customers.
  • Analyze customer's technical specifications and one lines, apply appropriate product offerings to meet the customers' expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner, and provide alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.
  • Follow up on opportunities to confirm if they have been won, lost or abandoned.
  • Update sales force with quotation information as well as assist with orders, once they are received to ensure expedient handover of order to project manager.
  • Participate in new product development projects.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years commercial or relevant industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience in technical scope review and formal proposal development preferred.
  • Basic level of technical knowledge with the application of electrical distribution products and systems.
  • Excellent team player and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure design objectives, performance factors, and physical requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of commercial infrastructure design objectives, performance factors, and physical requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with evaluating single line diagrams (SLD), relay PLC schemes, and communication network diagrams (media & protocols).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.
