Job Summary

A Med Surg Telemetry Supervisor is a healthcare professional who oversees the operations of a Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit with a focus on Telemetry, which involves continuous monitoring of patients' heart rhythms. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care in a specialized unit where patients often require close monitoring and immediate intervention.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Leadership:
    1. Manage nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on the unit.
    2. Ensure staff adherence to protocols, policies, and best practices.
    3. Provide guidance and support to the team, including training.
  2. Patient Care Management:
    1. Oversee patient care in the Med Surg Telemetry unit, ensuring that patients are receiving appropriate and timely care.
    2. Monitor patients' conditions, especially those requiring telemetry, and ensure that any changes in their status are addressed promptly.
    3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans.
  3. Telemetry Monitoring:
    1. Ensure that telemetry equipment is functioning correctly, and that staff are properly trained.
    2. Oversee the interpretation of telemetry data to detect arrhythmias or other cardiac issues.
    3. Respond to emergencies based on telemetry alerts.
  4. Administrative Duties:
    1. Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure the unit operates efficiently.
    2. Maintain records, including patient data, staff schedules, and compliance documentation.
  5. Quality Improvement:
    1. Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
    2. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
    3. Address any issues related to patient safety and care quality.
  6. Communication:
    1. Act as a liaison between the nursing staff, physicians, patients, and their families.
    2. Communicate effectively to ensure that all parties are informed about patient care plans and any changes in a patient’s condition.

Requirements:

  • Any state license accepted –
    • License Accepted: Any state license accepted - Valid current unrestricted nursing license from the State of Arizona or another compact licensing state.
  • Certifications required –
    • Valid American Heart Association certification in ACLS and BLS. Certifications in PALS and NRP are required within 90 days of hire.
    • Experience requirements –
      • 2 Years of Experience in Specialty and supervisory role
  • COVID vaccine required –
    • Yes

Facility Overview/Details:

Specialty: RN Supervisor Inpatient

The facility includes a medical telemetry Unit, Outpatient, and Emergency Room/Urgent Care.

Weekly schedule: 8a-5p - Monday through Friday

Support staff: Manages a team of MTU Inpatient RNs.

Clearance timeframe: 2-3 week timeline for credentialing/clearance, 13-week assignments
