Employee Type: Seasonal (Seasonal) The primary focus of this position is to safely perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment. Job Description: Essential Duties: Weld all metals and understand metal properties Read and understand blue prints, to assemble and fabricate parts from them Perform all phases of welding and cutting Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members Perform lock-out/tag-out procedures as required Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal regulations Other Duties: Operate the boom truck and welding truck Assist the mechanics Operate the skid steer loader, the sweeper, and the forklift Proper use of rigging to lift components and steel Operate overhead crane controls Assist other departments as needed Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong work ethic with effective communication skills Understand all phases of welding and cutting of metals and understanding metal properties Ability to read blue prints and knowledge of rigging procedures Rotating shift work is required and must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts Education and Training: Two years of welding experience or a welding technician associate’s degree is preferred High School Diploma or GED is required The hourly wage for these positions starts at $48.13 per hour. Freedom Mine welders are scheduled to work 14 shifts per 28-day cycle. That equates to being scheduled to work six months out of the year. Other work benefits are: 1) work at the same location every day; and 2) the work schedule is set for the entire calendar year.
