Tulsa Educare is looking for a passionate BILINGUAL DIRECTOR OF FAMILY SERVICES who wants to make a lasting impact on young children’s lives. Join a research-based early childhood education program that provides education, care and support to close the achievement gap of young, at risk children.

Job Summary

Responsible for carrying out the daily operations of the center in the School Director’s absence and providing daily support to the School Director in his/her presence; Oversee ERSEA (enrollment, recruitment, selection, eligibility and attendance); community outreach and partnerships; family and child health; nutrition; parent expectations & orientation; tuition collection; and monitoring & compliance. Provide or coordinate comprehensive parent education/training, family engagement activities, advocacy, case management, parent involvement, disabilities connections, transition activities, school involvement, linkage and referrals for early intervention needs as well as social service requests. Work collaboratively with Educare Learning Network (ELN) and other community partners to ensure DHS, ELN requirements, NAEYC Criteria and Head Start Performance Standards are met (when applicable).

  • Work with School Directors and Master Teachers to support the parent’s role in developing strong, positive parent/child relationships by enhancing their understanding of their child’s development, health and learning and by strengthening the parent’s role in their child’s school and educational experiences.

  • Use research based strategies from evaluation information to drive program practices.

  • Understand, support and implement the core features of Educare Learning Network (ELN).

  • Facilitate and participate in reflective practice, supervision, and training.

  • Oversee the coordination of recruitment, selection, enrollment, and orientation of children and families. Conduct tours to interested applicants and community partners when needed. Develop a system for transitioning children into the program, from classroom to classroom and to the school system.

  • Promote, develop, coordinate and track volunteers.

  • Provide translation to the parents and ensure that materials are translated into the parent’s home language (if applicable).

  • Develop a comprehensive parent resource and referral system and provide guidance, support and suggestions to staff to best meet the community needs of families enrolled.

  • Ensure assessment of the health care needs of children and families as well as finding a medical home for continual health services. Ensure community health resources happen on-site to meet the parent needs if needed. Consult with other staff as necessary regarding the clinical needs of children and families.

  • Provide short-term crisis intervention and counseling to families, as needed.

  • Develop collaborative community partnerships and represent Educare at community events to market our services and improve access to comprehensive services for families. Communicate the agency philosophy and goals to center visitors and other community programs and organizations, including role-modeling and serving as a resource for other child care programs.

  • Support the Master Teachers in training and fully implementing the curriculum and Implementation Checklist to achieve and maintain the ultimate child and family outcomes.

  • Develop parent program planning based on information from the Family Assessments. Monitor and track all activities in the family services program including completion of family assessments, family partnership agreements, health needs, community referrals, children’s attendance and status of fee reimbursement for each child.

  • Oversee, coordinate and/or facilitate the parent meetings and parent education activities.

  • Collect information for and prepare monthly reports.

  • Communicate regularly with the School Director to receive guidance, report progress, plan new strategies, discuss problems, and receive information on program policies and procedures.

  • Ensure training requirements are met and that employees obtain and keep current: food handlers, CPR and first aid registrations. Enter information into the Child Plus database.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by School Director.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

Works under the direct supervision of the School Director. Supervises and mentors staff that have direct contact with families and community Partners - Administrative Assistant, Compliance Associate and Family Advocates.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Extensive knowledge of DHS Child Care Licensing, Child Care Subsidy and community resources (bilingual in English and Spanish preferred in certain schools, but not required). Some knowledge of NAEYC standards, early childhood best practice and the importance of birth to five in brain development. Able to lead a team with strong communication skills, strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks. Must have some book-keeping ability. Skilled in developing respectful relationships with families. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Master’s or Bachelor’s in Business, Child & Family Development, Early Childhood, Social Work, or related field and at least two years of early childhood administrative experience and relevant experience providing services to families and children.

OTHER

Primarily an office position with some local travel (exposure to normal traffic hazards). Work requires bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and pulling throughout the day. Ability to lift and carry up 25 pounds. Regular and reliable attendance required. Applicant must be bilingual (Spanish).
