Job Summary


Roane State Community College is requesting applications for qualified candidates for an adjunct faculty position in our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program. Successful candidates will teach a combination of online GIS courses including Intro to GIS, Computer Cartography, Geographic Database Technology, GPS and Digital Imagery, Internet Mapping Applications, GIS Network and Demographic Applications, GIS Project Management, and a directed research project.

Successful applicants must be current state of Tennessee resident.
The position(s) are expected to begin in August 2024.



Job Duties



  • Teach GIS classes in an online format.



Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in a qualifying field or a bachelor's degree with at least two of the following: GIS associate's degree or technical certificate, two years full-time teaching, research or publications, or relevant additional coursework beyond a bachelor's degree. Qualifying fields include Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geology, Forestry, Earth Science, Environmental Sciences, Geosciences, Urban Studies, Engineering, Planning, and Agriculture.



Preferred Qualifications


Previous on-line teaching experience.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


The successful candidate must be proficient in the use of Arc GIS Pro and the ability to teach online using D2L/Brightspace.
