A Day in the Life

As a Manufacturing Engineer II you will be working collaboratively with other R&D and Operations function to create and improve manufacturing processes and procedures. Additionally, this role involves designing and improving production layouts to optimize assembly, equipment installation, and material handling. Responsibilities include identifying and designing equipment for increased productivity and increased efficiency. The position also includes inspecting tool performance, addressing issues to ensure product quality, and developing manufacturing processes that align with statistical process control. This role requires ensuring compliance with regulations and providing engineering guidance to improve equipment use and manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Responsible for production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, and problems; device specification and yield problems; minor redesign of devices and capital system components; analysis of customer returns and complaints; supplier related engineering changes and optimizing device production relative to cost constraints.

  • Serve as Manufacturing Engineering representative in cross functional projects.

  • Perform Process Validations, Non-product software validations and Equipment qualifications (IQ, OQ, PQ).

  • Owns Validation plans, FMEAs, CAPAs and Non-conformance reports and trends.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement continuous improvements in the Manufacturing and kitting line.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have:


  • Process validation and Installation Qualification experience.

  • SAP and Agile knowledge.

  • MINITAB experience for trend and SPC analysis.

  • Project Management experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$79,200.00 - $118,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
