Qualifications



RS&H is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Consulting Associate to join our team!

This position performs a variety of environmental consulting tasks that are more extensive in scope and require the application of standard principles and techniques utilized by the profession. This position works independently, under general supervision, exercising judgment in the application of standard methodologies and procedures for routine work; problems faced are typically difficult but not complex.

For roles with a compliance focus this includes project involving, but not limited to, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) planning, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting and associated plan preparation, hazardous material and waste permitting and planning, per and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) research, investigation and reporting, Environmental Management Systems (EMS) establishment, air quality and other environmental regulatory compliance services, data management, reporting.

For roles with a sustainability-focus, this includes projects involving greenhouse gas estimation and mitigation needs, climate action planning, climate adaptation and resilience planning, sustainability planning and third-party rating system support (e.g., ISI Envision, Green Globes, etc.), and environmental social governance (ESG) reporting projects for airports, federal agencies, transportation agencies, local government, and other public agencies, as well as the private sector.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs a variety of assignments including but not limited to data compilation, researching, and assisting with report and/or study preparation. Works under limitedsupervision and applies expanded technical knowledge and develops professional skillsin a specific discipline or practice area. Assists with environmental permitting andcompliance projects while meeting cost, schedule, safety, and quality objectives. This includes reviewing and adhering to quality assurance practices. Conducts desktopresearch, writes draft sections for plans or other deliverables, collects data, anddevelops/analyzes results. Develops an increased understanding of all discipline roleswithin a multidiscipline project team environment.(Technical expertise)
  • Serves as a task leader on small projects.(Project management)
  • Supports the growth and development of staff working on tasks that associate isleading.(People leadership)
  • Participates in the development of client presentation material. Participates in client meetings. Client interaction is occasional and under supervision.(Client interaction)
  • Participates in light industry engagement and gains an introduction to business development.(Business development)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited program and minimum three years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience working with a range of organizations, such as airports, federal agencies, cities, public agencies, corporate clients, and non-profits is preferred,
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Assignments also involve field studies for data collection, sometimes under adverse outdoor conditions. In-water experience with skin diving or SCUBA certification is a plus.
  • Additional advantageous skills include use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV, aka drones), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) such as ArcGIS Pro or other in the ESRI Ecosystem of GIS Software, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for field studies, acoustic and/or visual monitoring for bat surveys.
