Responsibilities

While RS&H was founded in 1941, we have been providing construction management services as one of our primary business practices since 1984. RS&H’s Transportation-Construction Management Practice serves numerous state departments of transportation, mobility/transportation authorities, turnpike/toll authorities, rail/port authorities, municipal/county governments, and private clients throughout the United States. Our Construction Engineering and Inspections (CEI) teams as well as our Construction Management teams are industry leading experts who provide a full range of construction engineering, program management, specialized testing, and inspection services from the preconstruction phase through maintenance and operations. Qualifications



We are seeking a Project Controller to support the project finance team. This person will be able to work remotely and/or with the option to work from one of our RS&H offices. (East Coast Preferred)

As a Project Controller, you will be responsible for performing routine aspects of project management support, utilizing knowledge and application of basic project controls principles. In this role, you will assist the project management team in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Under supervision, you will have the authority to make independent decisions and exercise judgment for routine issues. Utilizing prescribed methods, you will work on and support multiple small to medium-sized projects with limited complexity.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish and maintain project data in the ERP system, including phases, tasks, budgets, and allocations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project management and billing staff directives.
  • Analyze key financial metrics (e.g. cost variance, revenue forecasts) to support the project management team in achieving project deadlines and budget objectives. Provide regular financial reports and insights to guide decision-making.
  • Support project finance and project management teams in month-end closeout reconciliation by analyzing financial data, ensuring account alignment, resolving discrepancies, and preparing summary reports.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to assemble scope and fee proposals, verify labor rates, ensure formatting consistency, and perform thorough proofreading for accuracy.
  • Coordinate contract and draft subcontract documents, ensuring that all agreements contain necessary signatures, attachments, and amendments. Monitor and manage contract compliance.
  • Partner with project management and billing staff to ensure accurate and timely client invoicing.
  • Act as a liaison with project managers, billing staff, and subconsultants to manage subconsultant invoicing. Review invoices for accuracy and adherence to contract terms.
  • Support project financial performance throughout its lifecycle, conducting ongoing financial reviews to identify areas for improvement, cost-saving opportunities, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage project closeout processes, including finalizing subconsultant payments, monitoring accounts receivable collections, validating project data, and organizing file archives
  • Perform additional project-related financial duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of project execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Requires knowledge and application of basic project controls principles obtained through relevant industry experience.
    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
      • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and possess intermediate Excel proficiency in producing spreadsheets with data formulas, pivot tables and charts.
      • Experience in Deltek ERP and SharePoint is a plus.
      • Strong work ethic, self-starter and eagerness to learn
      • Must possess basic analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong organizational, prioritization, and oral and written communications skills.
      • Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

  • Able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally required to sit and stoop.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job.
