PATTERN SHOP TEAM LEAD

KSB GIW, Inc.

Department: Operations (Pattern Shop)
Reports to: Pattern Shop Supervisor
Location: Grovetown, GA, USA
Shift: 1st

FLSA Status: Hourly

OVERVIEW:

The Pattern Shop Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the pattern shop, ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and administrative responsibilities to support the production of high-quality patterns used in manufacturing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Always promotes SAFETY as their #1 job; complies with all company rules and maintains
  • Good housekeeping practices
  • Construct wood working patterns to GIW's standard
  • Ability to troubleshoot pattern problems from the foundry to machine shop
  • Must be able to QC new patterns and first piece sample castings
  • Able to use metric and English dimensioning
  • Interpret General Dimensioning and Tolerancing of Engineered drawings
  • Must be experienced with urethane and fiberglass systems
  • Communicate well with others, must be able to work in a team environment
  • Operate woodworking equipment and train others in safe operation of that equipment
  • Able to direct and train apprentice patternmakers in the construction of pattern equipment
  • Maintain accurate training records
  • Monitors maintenance status of plant equipment in assigned area and reports to work unit leader when maintenance is necessary
  • Makes recommendations to work unit leader for improvements
  • Complies to GIW procedures within assigned area and is trained and knowledgeable regarding current procedures
  • Using SAP to
    • Order materials and supplies
    • Maintain and update PRT records
    • Monitor shop load
  • Assign tasks to shop employees
  • Inspect new patterns and first piece castings
  • Set up and operate CNC machine to programmers work instructions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrates Leadership Skills/Abilities
  • Layout / Mechanical Drawing Skills
  • GD&T training
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Drawing/Blueprint reading skills
  • CNC / CAM experience a plus
  • Good communications and organization skills
  • Good attendance record a MUST
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Prior Pattern Making experience required
  • 5 years of pattern making experience preferred
  • 2 years technical education (drafting and engineering) helpful

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently:
  • Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling <75 lbs.
  • Occasionally:
  • Overhead work
  • Climbing ladders or stairs
  • Driving forklifts
  • Operating cranes
