Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Network Engineer with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will have a high-profile role in the development and qualification of systems used for the support of unique Department of Defense systems. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of software engineering technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team, you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s warfighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our Toms River, NJ location.
Responsibilities
Support Network Core, Firewalls, Switches, Routers, VPNs, Wireless Access Points, and other associated equipment.
Harden Network devices according to DoD STIGs.
Responsible for maintaining and updating network security controls.
Perform required remediation of vulnerabilities on network devices.
Create and maintain clear and concise documentation of the environment, exhibiting excellent change control and an appreciation of the control of risk.
Deploy networking equipment across campus as needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have an advanced understanding of network environments and devices (firewalls, web proxies, routers, switches, wireless access points and VPN.
Strong knowledge in LAN, VLAN, WAN, security protocols.
Must have demonstrated experience applying DoD Information Security (IS) policies and standards.
Knowledge of Department of Defense Cybersecurity Directives is a plus.
Must have experience identifying and applying the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on Department of Defense systems.
Experience supporting the RMF process is a plus.
Intermediate skill with scripting languages for automation purposes.
Working knowledge of Software Defined Networking such as Cisco DNA Center
Knowledge and configuration experience with Network Access Control systems such as Cisco ISE or Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager
Must be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications:
Must have a Secret level or higher clearance.
Must have a BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Candidates who do not meet the degree requirement but have extensive experience may be considered.
Must have Security+ CE or the ability to obtain one within 3-6 months.
At least 5 years of Network Administration experience working with LAN / WAN / TCP-IP / Firewalls / Switching/ Routing configuration and admin.
Cisco CCNA or equivalent
