Join our team of orthopedic and sports medicine experts to work in our urgent care facility providing services to adult and pediatric patients with orthopedic-related injuries. Candidate with orthopaedic experience is preferred however will train as needed; mentoring and ongoing training occurring regularly for all clinical staff.
Ideal candidate is proficient in making experienced decisions diagnosing and treating a variety of upper and lower extremity injuries. Express offers on-site x-ray, casting, and DME in order for the patient to receive a full-service experience. The staffing model provides the PA on-site clinical support of an LPN, scribe, and patient services representative to handle insurance, co-pay, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Obtain patients complete medical history and physical data.
Order diagnostic tests, including but not limited to radiology exams and laboratory studies.
Assess patient and develop treatment plan
Provide patient education, effectively explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Review patient records, interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed, including but not limited to radiology and laboratory tests.
Prescribe drugs, schedule III, IV and V controlled substances to the extent permitted by licensing and administer prescribed medications as directed; observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician.
Work closely with clinical support:
Scribe to handle chart prep and scribe notes while accompanying office visits
LPN to handle casting, suture/staple removal (if needed), injection draws, general assistance with reductions
DME Specialist to handle all durable medical equipment needs
On-call physician available
Attend continuing education courses as requested.
Share on call responsibilities with supervising physician
Requirements and Qualifications
Graduation from AMA accredited physician assistant program, including national certification as a physician assistant by the NCCPA.
Current NYS Physician Assistant License.
BS Health Sciences or related field
Physical Demands
Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients.
