Senior Director, Private Client Services Tax

Alvarez & Marsal is currently looking for a Senior Director for its rapidly-growing Private Client Services tax practice. Our Private Client Services practice works with private companies, their owners, and other domestic and international high net worth individuals, serving as their advisor, advocate, teammate and partner. We are dedicated to helping our clients achieve their long-term goals by delivering highly personalized solutions that suit their unique needs. Our ideal candidate will have an extensive and diverse tax background with a focus in providing tax and consulting services to high net worth individuals in the areas of individual income tax, wealth transfer and succession planning, and international tax; strong interpersonal skills with an approachable and professional demeanor that allows them to work well with others; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to coordinate, prioritize, and successfully meet multiple deadlines; thrives in a fast paced and dynamic environment; is a team player but able to work independently.

What you will be doing:

As a Senior Director of the Private Client Services Tax team, you will be responsible for the following:


  • Strong technical skills with tax compliance assignments for partnerships, S-corporations, trusts, and individual tax clients working proficiently with specific tax forms as follows: 1040, 1041, 709, and FinCEN 114;

  • Identify, research, and provide analysis on a wide range of complex tax issues;

  • Perform as part of a multidisciplinary team;

  • Assist with tax-planning responsibilities for individual clients;

  • Supervise associates and teach technical concepts to various levels of staff;

  • Clearly communicate work plan and objectives and manage project assignments;

  • Apply tax technical knowledge to specific client situations;

  • Develop trusted relationships with client personnel and collaborate with clients to compile project information and resolve issues;

  • Deliver a high-quality project on time and on budget; and

  • Ability to delegate work and effectively manage a team of people

Qualifications:


  • 9+ years of tax experience primarily focused on working with high net worth individuals in providing tax planning services, reviewing client workpapers, and preparing income tax returns

  • Experience with Gift, Estate, and Trust tax planning and compliance experience a plus;

  • Experience with consulting on various international tax matters, such as cross-border and pre-immigration planning and related compliance matters a plus;

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting;

  • Advanced degree or degree required (MST, MAcc, JD/LLM, or CPA);

  • Big 4 experience a plus;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word);

  • Proficiency with BNA Income Tax Planner;

  • Prior experience in researching technical tax issues in RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, BNA, and/or Lexis-Nexis and in preparing tax memoranda;

  • Experience managing multiple projects including scheduling, budgeting, corresponding with clients, and billing;

Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. Compensation Statement:

The salary range is $175,000 - $225,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
