Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins Fleet team is looking for two (2) Fleet Maintenance Worker II positions to support technicians in keeping our vehicles in good condition so that they are safe and reliable. Our fleet includes over 2000 vehicles including cars, trucks, transit busses, construction equipment, turf equipment, and paving equipment; vehicles run in all kinds of weather and conditions. The Worker II, Fleet is an early-career auto maintenance technician who will work at a City of Fort Collins Maintenance Facility with a team of technicians, fuelers, and drivers in an up-to-date, well-equipped shop. Uniforms, safety shoes, and safety equipment are provided.

One Worker II, Fleet position will serve in the City Streets Shop; standard hours are 1st shift, Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This position will work on paving, snow equipment, construction, and automotive type vehicles.

The other Worker II, Fleet position will serve in the Transfort Shop facility; will work a compressed workweek (4 days) on either a Monday-Thursday schedule OR a Wednesday-Saturday schedule. Hours are 2nd shift, 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Shift Differential pay at +7.5% is awarded for any work hours outside of regular business hours. This position will focus on Transit busses and automotive type vehicles.

What qualifications are we looking for? Knowledge of automobile and/or truck repair and service. Ownership of basic vehicle repair tools like sockets, wrenches, and pliers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.


  • Repairs and maintains building, including door maintenance, painting, and burglar alarm inspection.

  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintain streets, sidewalks, and driveways at City shops.

  • Performs custodial duties such as cleaning building, sweeping, scrubbing floors and emptying trash.

  • Delivery and pick up of buses, vans, and support vehicles between locations.

  • Inspects vehicles and performs maintenance and minor repairs such as changing tires, replacing brakes and hoses, and checking fluid levels.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on shop equipment such as bus wash facility, vehicle hoists, air compressor, and fuel island and propane station

  • Operates fueling truck to provide on-site equipment fueling.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2 years related experience in building, vehicle, and equipment maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
